Self-massage is very easy that even a child can do it. All you need is gently massaging and applying pressure on the right parts of your face and doing it repeatedly for a few minutes.
Frontal Sinus Massage
- First, rub your hands for a few seconds to warm them up
- Put your middle and index finger just above your eyebrows on at the side of your forehead.
- In a circular outward motion, apply pressure and massage slowly towards the temples
- Keep on massaging for approximately 30 seconds.
Maxillary Sinus Massage
Out of the four sinuses, the largest one would be the maxillary sinuses. This part is located at the side of the nose, above the teeth but below the cheeks. Here’s how you massage it.
- Use your middle and index finger and place them between the upper jaw and between the cheek bones. You can use your thumb in lieu of your index fingers if you prefer stronger pressure.
- Circularly massage the area for approximately 30 seconds.
Sphenoid or Ethmoid Sinus Massage
Sphenoid sinuses can be located on the sphenoid bone on the skull’s side. On the other hand, ethmoid sinuses are in the ethmoid bone. It is the bone dividing the nasal cavity.
To massage both sinuses, follow these simple steps:
- Place index fingers at the nose bridge
- Locate part between the corner of your eyes and your nasal bone
- Using your fingers, apply pressure on that area for around 15 seconds
- With your index fingers, stroke downward with side of the nose bridge
- Repeat the stroking for around 30 seconds.
